Stop wondering if your WordPress emails got delivered.

If you’ve ever had a customer ask where their order confirmation went, or a member tell you they never got the password reset, you already know the problem. WordPress’s default mail function sends through your hosting server, with no way to confirm what actually arrived.

SMTP2GO is built specifically for this kind of email. WP Mail SMTP routes every email WordPress sends to it in a few minutes. From then on, password resets, order confirmations, and form notifications go through dedicated sending, with full visibility into what was delivered.

Everything you need for reliable WordPress email

Reputation that works for you

SMTP2GO has spent years building a sending reputation. Your WordPress emails route through that, not your hosting server’s shared IP, so they land where they’re meant to.

One-key setup

No OAuth, no Google Cloud Console. Paste a single API key from SMTP2GO into WP Mail SMTP and the connection is live.

Authentication handled

Add the CNAME records SMTP2GO provides to your DNS once. WP Mail SMTP routes through your verified sending domain from then on.

Email logs

Every email logged with delivery status, timestamp, subject line, and recipient. Know exactly what was delivered and what failed. Pro feature.

Failure alerts

Get notified by email, Slack, SMS, or webhook the moment a delivery fails, before your customers have to tell you. Pro feature.

Backup connections

If SMTP2GO has an outage, WP Mail SMTP automatically falls back to a secondary mailer. Your emails still go out. Pro feature.

See every email, never miss a failure.

WP Mail SMTP Pro adds email logs, failure alerts, and backup connections to your SMTP2GO setup. See every email that goes out, get notified the moment a delivery fails, and keep mail flowing if SMTP2GO ever has an outage.

Frequently asked questions

Have questions about using SMTP2GO with WP Mail SMTP? Get answers below. If you need further assistance, contact us.

Do I need WP Mail SMTP Pro to use SMTP2GO?

No. The SMTP2GO connection works on the free WP Mail SMTP plugin. Paste your API key, and your WordPress emails start routing through SMTP2GO at no extra cost. Pro adds email logs, failure alerts, open and click tracking, and backup connections.

I already use SMTP2GO. Why do I need WP Mail SMTP?

WordPress’s default mail function sends through your hosting server, not through SMTP2GO. That means password resets, WooCommerce order confirmations, and contact form notifications skip the sending account you’re already paying for. WP Mail SMTP routes everything through SMTP2GO instead, so every WordPress email benefits from your sending reputation.

How is this different from using my host’s SMTP?

Your host’s SMTP has no delivery guarantees, no logs you can act on, and shares sending reputation with every other site on the server. If another site gets flagged for spam, yours suffers too. SMTP2GO is dedicated sending infrastructure with authentication built in, and WP Mail SMTP gives you a full log of every email that was sent or failed.

Can I use SMTP2GO with WooCommerce, contact forms, and other plugins?

Yes. WP Mail SMTP intercepts all WordPress email at the system level. Once connected, every plugin that sends email through WordPress, from WooCommerce order confirmations to WPForms notifications to membership site alerts, routes automatically through SMTP2GO. No per-plugin configuration needed.

What sending limits does SMTP2GO have?

SMTP2GO offers a free tier and several paid plans at different sending volumes. For most WordPress sites, the free tier is enough to cover contact forms, order confirmations, and password resets. Check smtp2go.com for current plan limits.

How does SMTP2GO compare to SendLayer or MailerSend?

SMTP2GO has built its reputation on simple, reliable sending. Single-credential setup, no marketing-platform features to navigate, and a free tier suited to smaller sites. SendLayer is made by the same team as WP Mail SMTP, with one-click setup and unified support. MailerSend sits in a similar space with a clean account flow. If you want pure transactional delivery without marketing add-ons, SMTP2GO is a strong fit.
