Want to know if your WordPress site’s emails are being opened and clicked? WP Mail SMTP’s email tracking features let you monitor how recipients interact with your emails, helping you understand your email engagement metrics.
This guide will show you how to enable email tracking and view your open and click rates in WP Mail SMTP.
Before you dive into this guide, make sure you’ve installed and activated WP Mail SMTP and verified your license key. You will also need to turn on email logging and may need to wait for your site to collect some data before you can view the information explained below.
Enable Email Tracking
Once WP Mail SMTP is active, go to WP Mail SMTP » Settings. Then, click on the Email Log tab.
In the settings page, you’ll find the Open Email Tracking and Click Link Tracking toggle buttons. These two settings work together to help you monitor email engagement. This section contains two settings that work together to help you monitor email engagement.
- Open Email Tracking: This option allows you to see if the email recipient has opened the email. When enabled, WP Mail SMTP will track each time a recipient opens your email.
- Click Link Tracking: This option lets you see if the recipient has clicked on any links in the email. This feature tracks all link interactions within your emails.
After selecting your desired tracking options, click Save Settings at the bottom of the page to store your changes.
Viewing Email Tracking Data
To view your email tracking data, click on WP Mail SMTP » Email Log in the WordPress admin menu.
To see more details for a specific entry, click on the Subject for any log. This will open up a page for the individual email log.

In the individual email log, you’ll see the tracking status under the Log Details section. Here, the Opened and Clicked fields show Yes or No to indicate if the email was opened and if any links were clicked.
That’s it! You can now track email opens and clicks for all emails sent from your WordPress site using WP Mail SMTP.
