Verifying Your License

Do you need to verify your WP Mail SMTP license? Verifying your license key will give you access to automatic updates and support, completing the installation process.

This tutorial will show you how to verify your WP Mail SMTP license on your WordPress site.


Before you get started, be sure to install the WP Mail SMTP plugin on your site.

Verifying Your WP Mail SMTP License

Once you’ve installed and activated the plugin, you’ll need to enter your license key in the WP Mail SMTP Settings.

You can do this by going to WP Mail SMTP » Settings in your WordPress admin area.

Under the General tab, you’ll find the option to enter your License Key in the License section.

To access your license key, you must open your WP Mail SMTP account. Once you log in, you will find your License Key on the main account page.

Copy your license key by clicking on the clipboard icon. Then add it to the License Key field in your WP Mail SMTP plugin settings and click on the Verify Key button to save and update your settings.

You’ll then see a notification letting you know that your site is receiving automatic updates.

Below the License Key field, you should now see a note with your license level.

My license verification failed. What should I do?

License verification failure is often due to PHP cURL issues. To check if there is such a problem on your site, you can use the WordPress Site Health tool.

First, go to Tools » Site Health in your WordPress admin area.

Make sure you’re in the Status tab of the Site Health tool. If there is a serious PHP-related problem on your site, you’ll see a section labeled Critical Issues. Under it, look for any notices related to PHP cURL.

To resolve a PHP cURL issue, you’ll need to contact your hosting provider’s support team for help.
