  1. We already have Mailgun configured on our website. What would be the advantage of installing your WP Mail SMTP Pro plugin? Mailgun is ok; however, it only saves email records for 5 days. With your plugin would I have access for more than 5 days. We review emails periodically to identify bounces, etc.; however, we need more than 5 days as we are on the road 4 days per week so 5 days really doesn’t’ allow us sufficient time to do our review.

    1. Hi Ken – We definitely understand that not being enough time, and that’s why we actually store email logs indefinitely (there are no limits). You can delete them at any time, but it’s totally up to you if or when this happens.

      I hope this helps! 🙂

    1. Yes we don’t have a lifetime license for WP Mail SMTP Pro plugin at this time since lifetime isn’t very sustainable long-term.

      1. Right. But it will give you a good amount of customers initially that can provide feedback and spread the word.

My question was more along the lines of, can you consider providing a lifetime purchase option for a limited time as a launch special?

        Thanks for your time.

  2. I have tried everything possible to get this plugin to work, and it keeps stating Test Email was unsuccessful, double check everything (check, check, and check), or…. Upgrade to the non-free version. It is possible to have the free plugin option work, or just a hook to pull in the upgrade.

    1. Hi Molly,

I’m sorry to hear this isn’t working for you yet! Both of our versions are fully functional, but it’s definitely possible that there’s something specific to your site or hosting environment that’s preventing things from working properly. We’d be happy to help you track that down!

If you’re using a paid license, you can reach out to our support team here. And if you’re using our free version, we provide limited complimentary support here.

      Thanks!

  3. i have smpt pro and installed this to my wordpress website and the emails now come into my inbox rather than junk, and alot more quicker. however when a customer fills out my contact form on my website i am not receiving the customers name or the coloured circle with the customers initials. its saying note to self with the email saying ‘you to you’ how can this be fixed?

    thanks

    1. Hey Jonathan,

Great question. It will depend on the SMTP settings you are using and what forms plugin you are using.

With that said what you will want to look at first is the notification settings in your form plugin.

You will want the email notification “from” address to be your email account (eg [email protected] or whatever email you have configured in the WP Mail SMTP settings).

The second thing, and the trick here, is to configure the “reply to” email notification setting. This should be set to whatever email address the user provides you in the form. Typically this can be done with a smart tag or merge tag, depending on the forms plugin you are using.

This way the email sends from you and gets delivered, but it indicates that when you reply to the email it goes to the user.

Hope that helps! If you have more questions just reach out to support and we can assist with the settings 🙂
